It is a celebration of anglers making the pilgrimage to Sam Rayburn from all over the globe for the annual Big Bass Splash. A three day event, this year marks their 32nd anniversary. $575,000 is guaranteed in cash and prizes to be paid out! Fifteen places are paid each hour, starting with the 7-8am weigh in and ending each day with the 1-2pm final hour. When it is all said and done, the overall top five anglers will receive additional cash and prizes, and a new Big Bass Splash champion will be crowned.

In addition to the hourly and overall payout, the first anglers to bring in a 3.00, 4.00 or 5.00 exact weight bass each day wins a $5,000 bonus!

The little anglers get to get in on the action too. Kids can fish in their own division and age group to catch bass, catfish, crappie or bream to receive gift certificates from Academy Outdoors.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Feb. 26)

SLOW. Water stained; 55 degrees; 2.26 feet above pool. Bass are staging on points hitting Carolina rigs or rattle traps. The lake level is up, so expect all species to move to shallow newly submerged structures. Target timber as these areas will be warmer timber. The best bite has been midday. Report by Captain Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service.
