Crappie Report 05/07/2014

The crappie are a little behind this year and I am assuming its due to the unusual winter we had. There are fish both in the grass and in the tops right now. We are catching a ton of little fish early and the bigger ones later in the day and overall catches are getting better everyday. Jigs are working real well right now, Rusty Byrley from Nacogdoches has been making me custom jigs for several years now and they are superior to any other jigs in my opinion! Give me a call at (936) 554-9404 to book a trip today, for more info you can go to www.samrayburnfishing.com

Fishing Report from TPWD (Jul. 9)

GOOD. Water stained; 86 degrees; 1.54 feet below pool. Freshwater is still entering the lake from the river, and water is being released. Topwater bass bite is early in the morning and evening. Bass are deeper on points, drains and humps with crankbaits and Carolina rigs. Crappie are good on brush piles, but many undersized fish and bluegill to sift through. Catfish are good in 18-20 feet of water on cut bait. A few white bass are schooling on main lake points. Cast baits to shade. Report by Captain Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service.
