Lake Sam Rayburn Fireworks and Festivities

Located in the East Texas Piney Woods, Lake Sam Rayburn lies north of Jasper and is an exciting place for your 4th of July Independence Day celebration.

Sam Rayburn also happens to be the largest body of water that is entirely within Texas. It has 750 miles of shoreline and covers 114,500 acres. The nearest towns on the northern side of the Lake include Lufkin and Nacogdoches while the city of Jasper lies at the southern tip of the Lake.

Many Americans come to Lake Sam Rayburn to celebrate the nation's Independence Day on the 4th of July with colorful fireworks displays, boat parades, land parades, flag ceremonies, car shows, and much more. Firework displays are, however, the main attraction in most of the towns dotted along the shoreline of Sam Rayburn Reservoir.

Here are some of the popular attractions around the lake during July 4th celebrations:

Jasper Independence Day Celebration

There will be plenty going on at Jasper on July 3rd and 4th during the Independence Day weekend celebration.

You can catch a wide range of exciting activities including fireworks at Sandy Creek Park and Marvin Hancock drive in Jasper. Activities begin at 5 P.M. with live music at 6 P.M. and fireworks at 9:30 P.M.

You may also catch Miss Linda Gish all the way from Tyler Texas showcasing her balloon art or Roy James together with the Heroes and Patriots group selling lighted toys and military memorabilia. Remember to buy raffle tickets provided by the Texas American Legion.

The events also include live music by famous bands playing blues, country, and pop music. There might even be a watermelon eating contest at 6:45 P.M. as it happened in the previous years. The fireworks display start at 9:30 P.M. There's definitely something for everyone at Jasper on Independence Day.

Nacogdoches Freedom Fest

Freedom Fest will be on July 3rd this year in Nacogdoches, with a huge fireworks display and lots of fun in Festival Park downtown.

Lufkin 4th of July Fireworks

In the park in front of Ellen Trout Zoo will be full of family fun, live music, vendors and of course a huge fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day in Lufkin.

Other Events Around Lake Sam Rayburn

We asked around and coulnd't find an answer on whether there will be a fireworks show in Zavalla this year.

Another 4th of July tradition is a boat parade on Lake Sam Rayburn. The boat parade usually starts at noon at the dam and ends at Rattlesnake Island.

There are plenty of exciting activities for the entire family for the fourth of July celebrations at Sam Rayburn Reservoir. The lake is also popular for watersports, hiking, fishing, and skiing, primarily because of its size.

Come and join us at Lake Sam Rayburn for this year’s Independence Day fun.

Target fish on structures and grass. Bass are very lethargic and slow to bite. Target stumps in creek bends for the best bite. The water is off colored in the creeks and pockets. Crappie and white bass are moving up the creek channels. Catfish are good in 15-26 feet of water on cut bait and minnows. Report by Captain Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service.
